You Told Us and We Listened: Introducing Zeftron’s New “Designers Select” Colors

Designers Select logoWe are constantly seeking input from designers about our colors. Through our first national “Color Survey” you were able to vote online to tell us what colors you wanted to see added to our color palette.

After reviewing your votes and working with our coloration experts, we are pleased to announce our new “Designers Select” Collection! The eight new colors

subtly yet inherently reflect a sense of optimism with each color boasting its own unique and distinctive character. Colors range from an organic earth tone to a complex gray that offer a touch of boldness.

The colors can be used in a variety of ways, either as primary or accent colors for carpets designed for the hospitality, corporate, retail, education…or any commercial interior.

The new Designers Select Collection comes on the heels of our recently introduced Brilliant Collection, an assortment of seven highly vibrant colors that can add a dash of energy or excitement.

“Designers Select”

The new colors are perfect complements to our existing colors and brings our overall color palette to 120.  But more importantly, they provide more choices, options and inspiration for the commercial carpet you envision. These new collections also underscore our commitment to listening and responding to designers and marketplace needs.

Each color is rigorously tested to Zeftron’s exacting standards to ensure premium color consistency.  And, like all Zeftron yarns, the new colors contain a minimum of 25 percent recycled content. They are backed by Zeftron’s lifetime warranties for colorfastness, stain removal, wear and static control.

An electronic color swatch of the Designers Select Collection, Brilliant Collection and all of our colors is available for download by clicking here.

More information and inspiration is available at our website.

We want to hear from you.  What do you think of these new colors? How might you use them in an upcoming project?

Today’s Workplace Design: Three Benefits of Carpet

MSRI_Berkeley_19
Carpet made with Zeftron nylon

The office of today is not what it used to be. Gone are the days of gray walls and tiny cubes separating the individual from the masses. The new workplace is open, airy, colorful and brand-driven. Now more than ever design is critical to achieving collaboration, inspiration and maximum productivity.

But how does a designer come up with the perfect interior for a client? Unfortunately, there is no secret formula. Instead it changes with every space that is created. But what doesn’t change is the need to connect the design aesthetic of the environment to the functional needs of those occupying the space.

The floor is typically the largest surface of any interior space. As a result, the flooring product you select can play a major role in both that space’s design and functionality. What can help you make the decision to choose carpet over other floor coverings for the next commercial space you design?  Below are three points to consider:

Acoustics: It’s well-known that quieter environments can foster greater focus and attention. Global design firm HOK lists this as one of their top 10 trends influencing workplace design today, and we agree. One of carpet’s best features is sound absorption, which can help reduce unwanted noise and create more productive employees.

Color: Carpet ain’t what it used to be! Our mill partners work hard to create amazing carpets that are not only beautiful, but highly stylish and versatile. We recently released seven new colors called the Brilliant Collection, which include colors like Lemon, Hot Pink, & Electric Blue to name a few. Why is that important? Research shows that bright colors not only add a spark of energy to a space, it can also foster greater engagement and activity.

Branding: Earlier this year Building Design & Construction posted an in-depth look at how millennials respond to workplace design. The new workplace is quickly filling up with this young generation and they expect a branded feel to their workspace. High-quality design in the workplace is a competitive advantage and will help with recruitment and retention of millennials, and all employees. Carpet offers the flexibility and customization to create a branded feel for your project.

What are other important factors when you specify carpet for your projects?  When choosing a commercial grade carpet, we have talked in the past about the importance of knowing the traffic the space will receive, as well as the maintenance plan for the space. The Bloom Collection: 3 Beautiful Styles Made with Zeftron nylon

The Bloom Collection won a Certificate of Excellence Award in 2012
The Bloom Collection won a Certificate of Excellence Award in 2012

This month we are taking a closer look at the award winning Bloom Collection from Aqua Hospitality made with Zeftron nylon. Utilizing Zeftron’s rich color palette and styling capabilities, each product in the collection offers striking organic patterns, coloration and texture. Last year the Bloom Collection received a Reader’s Choice Certificate of Excellence Award for the 2012 HA+D awards!

Zeftron Nylon’s Business Leader Tim Blount said “This award further validates Zeftron’s proven ability to provide the essential yarn offerings to allow our mill partner design teams to create highly styled products for the discerning hospitality market.”

Introduced in September 2012, Bloom’s three styles – Flora, Pure Petal and Just Leafy – feature six colorways ranging from neutral earth tones to natural brights, Zeftron’s color palette creates multiple tiers of colors and intricate shading effects. “Designers and specifiers of hospitality products will find a lot to love about Bloom,” said Aqua Hospitality Carpets Director of Marketing Cathy Mansour.

Perfect for virtually any hospitality environment such as guestrooms, lobby areas or corridors, the collection also provides the best in environmental attributes.

In addition to Zeftron nylon, an MBCD Cradle to CradleCM certified product that comes standard with a minimum of 25 percent recycled content, each Bloom tile product is backed with Aqua’s revolutionary Nexterra carpet tile backing system. Nexterra is made from 40 percent post-consumer recycled content. Additionally, all Aqua cushion contains 70 percent pre-consumer recycled content and 30 percent post-consumer recycled content. Specification of Bloom products can contribute towards LEED credits, and the products are eligible for reclamation and recycle at the end of their useful lifecycle.

“Bloom is about discovering the unforeseen beauty of something simple when looking at it from a different perspective. In this case, it’s about taking natural elements such as a leaf, a petal or a flower and viewing them through x-ray technology. When you do this, you notice that no two leaves, petals or flowers are the same, and this creates a sense of wonder and element of surprise,” said Aqua Hospitality Carpets Designer Koren Sinnock, who played the lead role in creating the collection.

Introducing Electric Blue: Part of Zeftron Nylon’s Brilliant Collection

Last week we announced our new Brilliant Collection. Comprised of seven highly vibrant colors, the Brilliant Collection adds to our already amazing palette. This week we are taking a look at the first of these colors, Electric Blue.

Blue is a color based in nature that has some powerful emotions tied to it. According to The Colour Affects System of applied color psychology, blue is associated with cool, calm, water and renewal. Historically in design blue has been the color of the elite, the regal, and it can be found abundantly in upscale European luxury hotels and homes.

How can you amp up a color that already has such a decided place in design? Make it electric.

Introducing Electric Blue, one of 7 new colors offered by Zeftron Nylon’s Brilliant Collection.  Electric Blue brings energy and brightness to a space. It sets off other elements in a room and is a great compliment to classic colors.

The idea of electric blue nylon fiber incorporated into a custom carpet brings classic luxury into the modern age and is perfect for hospitality, corporate or other interiors environments. Reminiscent of the resent color forecasting by Color marketing Group, we believe that through collaborating with our mill partners and crowdsourcing via the 2013 Zeftron Color Survey, Electric Blue is on-trend.

The seven colors of the Brilliant Collection are:  Hot Pink, Lemon, Brilliant Orange, Lime, Electric Blue, Bay Blue and Raspberry Wine. These colors were designed to harmonize with Zeftron’s other colors and perfectly complement Zeftron’s existing base shades.  Each proven color, including those in our metallic and vibrant hospitality collections, is a clear saturated hue making for unlimited color possibilities.

“We think designers will enjoy playing with these new colors to add more fun, energy and creativity to the carpets they envision for their projects,” said Zeftron Nylon Business Leader Tim Blount.

Interiors & Sources NYC Hotel Bus Tour

The Showroom of Lighting by Gregory during the Interiors & Sources NYC Hotel Tour
The Showroom at Lighting by Gregory

Have you ever wondered how an upscale hotel design happens? This week Zeftron nylon and our mill partner PacifiCrest had the opportunity to co-sponsor an educational tour of luxury hotels in New York City.

The Interiors & Sources designer-led NYC Hotel Bus Tour provided a small group of accomplished designers the opportunity to take in some of the city’s newest and most decadent hotels while learning about the design from the firms who created the space.

We began our Manhattan luxury outing at the Lighting by Gregory display space. It was an impressive view of the “Trends in Hospitality Lighting.” The breakfast there was amazing and it was a great way to get to know some of the reps from firms we’ve worked with in-person.

Next we visited The Refinery, and were treated to a behind the scenes look at the rooftop bar presented by Stephanie Liu with Stonehill & Taylor. She spoke about embracing the industrial and raw esthetic.

There is a rustic greenhouse feel to the space. Lush greenery & the sound of water bring the outdoors in to guests.

The Refinery guest rooms, entry and lobby juxtaposed that rustic feel perfectly. These spaces are sophisticated, classic and clean.

After our walkthrough of the Refinery, we were treated to lunch and a presentation at Novotel located in the heart of Manhattan, by Sara Duffy with Stonehill & Taylor. The electric feel of Times Square flows right into the lobby of this modern hotel! From the lighting to the art, every detail was an exciting new discovery.

Our next stop was Archer New York, presented by Glen Coben of Glen & Co. The lobby evokes industrial elegance inspired by the 1940’s Garment District with exposed brick and steel, dotted with Chesterfield-style sofas and menswear inspired fabrics.

Guest rooms featured wood floors, exposed brick headboard walls and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The entire tour inspired and enlightened our team. We love seeing beautiful spaces and hearing about the designer’s process. A few topics that stood out to us were: how designers are able to optimize the footage of small guest rooms, identify the lasting trends in the design of luxury hotel properties, the creation of public spaces that create a sense of “separate togetherness,” and creating a cohesive aesthetic through fabric lighting and art.

As a co-sponsor, we were just as inspired by the presentations and magnificent hotels we visited as the designers. It was truly a fun and educational day! Thank you to our friends at Interiors & Sources for putting on such a great event, and to the designers who attended for all the great feedback. We look forward to working with you all very soon.
